Foundation models replace traditional pipelines, guided by extensive self-supervised training on diverse data. These models, exemplified by transformers, leverage transfer learning and scale, requiring less manual engineering effort. Foundation models, such as BERT, GPT or Google Search, reduce the need for manual data labeling. This talk explores the transformative impact of data-centricity, transfer learning, and scale on foundation models, shaping the future of industrial machine learning pipelines.

Holding a diploma in business and a Ph.D. in swarm intelligence, Sophia Lux has 20 years of experience in education for students and adults. She started as a tutor at the University of Bayreuth, progressing to management research. In Leipzig, she served as an Account Manager and lecturer. Since 2016, she's a professor of Business Administration at the International Berufsakademie (iba), becoming the deputy site leader in 2019. Her research focuses on Change-Management and digital transformation's impact on employee loyalty and belonging.

Sebastian, born in 1985, is the co-founder of Zignify Global Product Sourcing, owns 2 product brands, and is a Grad Engineer in electrical engineering / industrial automation. He lived himself 6 years in Asia (3 in China), started the Amazon business in 2014, and now runs the probably only sourcing company in the world that sources not only from China but also from all over the world – together with his better half, Yuliya Blinova. Together, they travelled overland from Singapore to Germany on one motorcycle: 242 days & 38.322km while collecting money for children in need.
